If you're planning your getaway to Menorca and dream of wild coves, reddish landscapes, and crystal-clear waters, Cala Pregonda is a must-see. This beach on the north of the island is one of the most special: its golden-reddish sand, volcanic rock formations, and the tranquility in the air make it a unique place. Here we tell you how to get to Cala Pregonda, what you should keep in mind to enjoy it to the fullest, and why staying nearby can make all the difference.
Located on the northern coast of Menorca, in a protected area within the Northern Marine Reserve, Cala Pregonda is the opposite of southern coves: wilder, less accessible, and surrounded by a much more unspoiled environment.
Its peculiar reddish hue is due to the presence of minerals in the surrounding rocks, giving it a Martian look unlike any other beach in Menorca. In front of the cove, several natural islets protect its waters from waves, making the sea look like a calm pool.
There are no beach bars, umbrellas, or crowds here. Just nature, silence, and sea.
Getting to Cala Pregonda requires a short walk, but that’s part of its charm. You can't drive directly to the beach.
Where to park: There's a free parking lot in Binimel·là. From there, start the walking route.
Extra tip: If you have time, combine your visit with a swim at nearby Cala Barril or a partial hike along the Camí de Cavalls.
From the Binimel·là parking lot to Cala Pregonda is about 25–30 minutes on a natural path with no shade. It's not difficult but not suitable for people with limited mobility.
Access is only on foot from Binimel·là or by sea, via boat or kayak excursions. There is no road to the beach.
